BONUS LIVE STUDIO SESSIONS
2 Drawing sessions and 2 Textile sessions LIVE from my studio via ZOOM so we can work alongside one another. [Thursdays 10am] [these aren’t necessarily extra teaching content, but a nice time to connect & work together]
NB you will have 4 weeks access to this workshop - all the workshop material will be delivered with the first 2 weeks but you will have 4 weeks to enjoy the full workshop content and classroom banter/support - all form the comfort of your own home. I shall drop into the classroom LIVE each week [Mondays 3pm] to answer questions and queries - you can submit questions in advance & the session will be available to watch/re-watch anytime afterwards in our private group [if you can't make it live]
I often hear the words 'I can't draw' - but are you drawing in a way that will help & support your tactile work? This workshop will 'free up' your drawing style; help you kick start a new project or inject some much needed energy into your practise. It will show you how to translate your drawn marks into stitch and cloth.
"This workshop more than met my expectations! Wonderful value for money. The next best thing to a physical workshop. Dionne is a brilliant teacher and is clearly dedicated to her students and passionate about her work. A great combination!"
Don't panic over the 'D' word! Drawing is not a dirty word & you don't need to feel like you can draw to take part - my aim to to alter your perception of what a drawing can be and to show you how useful ways to draw that will help your tactile creations.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed the course,it is well planned with clear instructions but plenty of room to let ourselves develop with good constructive criticism and it's great to share work so as not to be working in isolation."
"...this course has opened up an entirely new avenue to explore with many exciting possibilities to continue with -Thank you, it's been an illuminating and very positive experience for me."
You will need to devote time in your calendar to get the most from any of my ONLINE workshops. Information is delivered via email with links to password protected pages on this site: you'll find videos, text and Illustrations to support the specific activity/exercise. You'll need a fast broadband speed to watch the videos successfully and have sufficient IT skills to respond to emails, follow links, comment on Facebook and upload images.
"I have just completed the "Drawing for Textiles" workshop and found it really inspiring, innovative, clear and well organised and definitely worth the money. The time frame of video availability was enough for me to be able to watch and work at my own pace and the group forum for sharing work and feedback was manageable, even for me, who does so little of this."
There is a comprehensive supplies list and video HERE on my teaching website 'explore textiles.com' As well as a range of drawing media, I shall be demonstrating on a sewing machine with free motion capabilities and an embellisher [needle punch machine]. Some students focus and indulge in the drawing aspects of this workshop others are more 'drawn' to the textiles...
If you have an old straight stitching machine that will be fine - I will show you how to draw with it. I offer alternatives for the embellisher too - there are hand held options. These machines are desirable but not essential for the workshop. Any queries please get in touch.
'The workshop has definitely succeeded in giving me options for freeing up the way I work, both with drawing and 2D textiles - does it sound mad to suggest the way I think too? Feels like it anyway, so has met my aims and much more - it's been a really good and lasting experience."
